OSL 1415

Next season, Pablo Heras-Casado leads the Orchestra of St. Luke’s as its Principal Conductor at Carnegie Hall and the Caramoor Music Festival. On August 3, 2014, Pablo returns to the OSL’s summer home in Westchester County for a concert with Alisa Weilerstein, who performs Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Pablo also conducts Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 in a program that opens with the Prelude to Act III of Lohengrin.

On November 6, 2014, Pablo opens the OSL’s Carnegie Hall Orchestra Series with a program of musical fantasies: Purcell’s Suite from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Tchaikovsky’s seascape The Tempest, Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht with Musica Sacra, and Dallapiccola’s ominous Piccola musica notturna. The OSL Principal Conductor returns to Carnegie Hall on April 23, 2015, reuniting with Alisa Weilerstein for Shostakovich’s Second Violin Concerto in a program that also includes Stravinsky’s Symphonies of Wind Instruments and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

“Our programs this season highlight the most unique aspects of OSL—intimate and focused at its core as a chamber ensemble, and enthralling when expanded to its full forces,” says Pablo. “Many of the works we will perform hold a special place in the hearts of our musicians and audience members, and I am delighted to work with my OSL family to develop compelling interpretations, proving that music, whether old or new, is vibrant and ever-evolving.”
