NY Phil Biennial

Pablo Heras-Casado, Musical America’s 2014 Conductor of the Year, returns to the United States to lead Orchestra of St. Luke’s as its Principal Conductor for two concerts (May 31, June 1) that explore the music of Pierre Boulez, George Benjamin, and their circles of influence, as part of the New York Philarmonic’s inaugural Biennial.

On June 1 Pablo and OSL delve into the music of George Benjamin. The New York premieres of Benjamin’s Octet and Upon Silence are performed in a program that includes the first American performances of Ryan Wigglesworth’s A First Book of Inventions, Helen Grime’s Luna, and Night Rides by Colin Matthews, whose Suns Dance also comprises the evening. Mezzo-soprano Abigail Fischer solos with the orchestra.

Both concerts takes place at the Rose Theater at the Time Warner Center.
