Mariinsky 2 Beethoven 9

Recently named Musical America’s 2014 Conductor of the Year, Pablo Heras-Casado returns to St. Petersburg on December 20 to conduct the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. The one-night-only performance of Beethoven’s “Choral” Symphony takes place at the newly opened Mariinsky II theatre and features a lineup of soloists including soprano Zhanna Dombrovskaya, mezzo-soprano Nadezhda Serdyuk, tenor Dmitry Voropaev, and bass Mikhail Petrenko.  

Looking ahead, Pablo will return to Russia to conduct the Mariinsky Orchestra on January, 29, 2014, leading Alena Baeva in Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto.
