Granada Gold Medal of Merit

Pablo Heras-Casado has been awarded the Gold Medal of Merit by the Council of his hometown Granada in a February 1 ceremony attended by family and friends. The honor, which recognizes Pablo’s musical career to date, was shared by other prominent figures including charity worker Antonio Gutiérrez Ferrer, the clinic La Inmaculada, soprano Mariola Cantarero, and the President of the Andalusian Economists Professional Association. The Gold Medal of Merit adds to the one the Spanish conductor received last year from the Fundación Rodríguez Acosta, whose previous honorees have included Manuel de Falla, Luis Rosales, and Enrique Montero.

Next week, Pablo will make his main stage debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall on February 7, 2013 with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, which named him Principal Conductor in December 2011.
