Deutsche Grammophon archiv partnership

Pablo Heras-Casado will join Archiv Produktion’s roster of artists, becoming an “Archiv Ambassador” for Deutsche Grammophon’s specialist early music label. The partnership was unveiled on Thursday, April 4, as part of a special “Baroque ‘n’ Roll” event in Berlin, celebrating 66 years since Archiv’s foundation.

Deutsche Grammophon’s Mark Wilkinson welcomed Pablo to the Archiv Produktion label as one of a new generation of “Archiv Ambassadors” – with the Spanish conductor leading a unique Farinelli project, focusing on the celebrated castrato’s time as a Music Director in Madrid and Aranjuez, as well as conducting the label’s first recording of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice in the original Italian version. The recordings are planned for release in 2014.

Pablo has built a strong reputation for his musical versatility and breadth of programming. Highlights from the 2012-2013 season include performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony and Münchner Philharmoniker, while next season sees the Spanish conductor making debuts with the Metropolitan Opera and New York Philharmonic. This summer, he returns to co-direct Lucerne Festival’s contemporary music academy for the third time. In October, Pablo Heras-Casado returns to conduct the Orchestra of St. Luke’s as its Principal Conductor, a position he has held since December 2011.
