The programme features works by 20th century Russian composers, that refer back to the music of 19th century Vienna: Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, Schnittke’s “Moz-Art à la Haydn”, and two compositions by Shostakovich: his Symphony No. 9 and his First Cello Concerto, played by cellist Alisa Weilerstein.
