Critical acclaim for Iphigenia in Tauris

After a critically acclaimed premiere of Gluck’s “Iphigenia in Tauris” at the Canadian Opera Company, Pablo Heras-Casado will conduct further performances of the production in October.

The Globe and Mail writes: “Conductor Pablo Heras-Casado led a trim and sensitive performance of the ground-breaking score. He coaxed a lean sound from the COC Orchestra strings, and made nimble work of Gluck’s many quick changes of tempo and tone.”

“Iphigenia in Tauris” is a co-production of Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera and Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and will feature Susan Graham / Katherine Whyte as Iphigenia, Russell Braun as Orestes, Joseph Kaiser as Pylades and Mark S. Doss as Thoas.
