This month Deutsche Grammophon releases a DVD and Blu-ray recording Pablo Heras-Casado’s debut performance at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, where the Spanish conductor led a new production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore staged by tenor Rolando Villazón. The staging, inspired by the cartoon character Lucky Luke and the Spaghetti Western tradition, sees Pablo conducting a leading cast that includes Rolando Villazón as Nemorino, Miah Persson as Adina, Roman Trekel as Belcore, and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo as Dulcamara. The Baden-Baden production also features the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble and Choir.
