At their annual press conference in the Philharmonie, the Berliner Philharmoniker and chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle announced their plans for the 2011/2012 season, including the concerts international audiences can see in the Digital Concert Hall. Once again there are more than 30 concert broadcasts planned -- with conductors and soloists representing a who's who of the classical music world today.

In the fourth installment of our series of talks, LA Phil VP of Artistic Planning Chad Smith discusses the outstanding young conductor Pablo Heras-Casado, who is making his fourth appearance with the LA Phil on November 5-7. Also included in the chat are the works he'll be performing, which include pieces by Stravinsky and Debussy, as well as a work by Toru Takemitsu that was originally commissioned by the LA Phil in 1984 -- and, not coincidentally, features the soloist for whom the work was originally written!

In May, conductor Pablo Heras-Casado performed a very special concert with the Residentie Orkest together with the Nederlands Dans Theater. In this mini docu you'll see the conductor rehearsing for the weekend with the famous Dutch orchestra.
